This News Is ‘Pipe-ing’ Hot!

Timo’s Air Conditioning & Heating is proud to announce that we are expanding our offerings and will be adding plumbing to our already-impressive portfolio of services. The same great customer experience you know and expect from Timo’s will make its way to the servicing, maintenance and replacement of traditional and tankless water heaters, water-conditioning systems and water-filtration systems. Here in California, we know how important water is, and we don’t take it for granted for a second. We are invested in helping homeowners navigate the slippery world of managing their home’s water systems. As an elite HVAC company in Thousand Palms, Timo’s is your trusted partner in the home service industry.

Breaking It Down Before It Breaks Down

So, what are the telltale signs that a fixture needs to be replaced or upgraded sooner rather than later?

  1. Water heaters. A broken water heater can grind any household to a complete halt. Here are some things to look out for before you are forced into a frigid shower: leaks, rust, excessive noise and the biggest one—age. Father Time waits for no one, even inanimate objects. If your traditional water heater is older than 10 years (20 for tankless models), you are running on borrowed time. Rather than wait until an emergency develops, you can replace your unit and enjoy the efficiency improvements that newer models have to offer. Also, if your hot water runs out faster than it used to, you may need to assess if there have been any changes to the size of your household. If so, this could be an instance where you need to upgrade your water heater, as your current model no longer suits your family’s hot-water needs.
  • Water-conditioning systems. These systems are installed to prevent the buildup of limescale in your plumbing and appliances. Often, the terms “water conditioner” and “water softener” are used interchangeably, but this can be misleading. Water softeners remove chemicals from water, while water conditioners change the makeup of minerals such as calcium and magnesium, preventing buildup. In addition, traditional water softeners that use salt create wastewater that is considered no friend to the environment, which is why they are banned in many places, including California.

If you would like relief from any of the following, it might be time to install a water-conditioning system:

  • Dry, brittle hair and nails
  • Water has an unpleasant taste and/or odor
  • Appliances need frequent repairs or need to be replaced sooner than they should
  • Limescale buildup in shower/tub
  • Laundry appears dingy or colors fade quickly

And if you already use a water conditioner and are noticing any of the following, it may be time to upgrade or replace your system:

  • Changes in water pressure
  • Changes in taste
  • Changes in feel
  • More accumulating soap scum
  • Streaky glassware and dishes
  • Water-filtration systems. Water filtration isn’t just about the quality of the water you drink. It’s also about the water you bathe in and cook with, the water that runs through your appliances and the water you use to wash your clothes. Timo’s wants you and your family to have high-quality water available at every entry point in your home, which is why we suggest whole-home filtration systems. Sediment, chemicals and certain minerals are not the best of bathing companions, nor do they pair well with a nice drink on the rocks. If you are looking for better-tasting water, to feel more secure in keeping potentially harmful contaminants out of your home’s water supply and if you’d like to extend the lives of your plumbing and appliances, this system may be a great choice.

If you already have one of these systems and notice any of the following, it may be time for a filter replacement or service call:

  • Water develops unpleasant taste or odor
  • Dwindling water pressure
  • Your water feels “slippery”
  • If you see any rust or particles in your water
